In the Name of God go

In the name of God go

By Justice Markandey Katju

Many leaders of the Congress Party have telephoned me recently and said they are getting abuses by the public because of Sonia and Rahul Gandhi who are clinging on to the leadership of the party, although the mother and son have almost demolished it and made it defunct and non existent ( as indeed the recent election results in 4 states and a union territory have shown ). These Congress leaders have appealed to me to speak out on the issue, which I am doing now.
On May 7th 1940, Leo Amery, MP, quoting the words of Oliver Cromwell, said to Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain in the British House of Commons :
"You have sat too long here for any good you have been doing. Depart, I say, and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go".
The same need be said now to the Nehru-Gandhi family. They have brought the Congress to its lowest level in its history. They have no principles except for a lust for power and pelf ( God alone knows how many hundreds, if not thousands, of crore rupees Sonia has pilfered and transferred secretly to foreign banks and safe havens ). The great party led by Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru which led India to freedom has been reduced to a grisly shadow of its former self.
One would have thought that after its dismal performance in the 2014 and 2019 parliamentary elections ( in 2019 it got just 52 of the total 542 seats in the Lok Sabha, and just 19.5% of the total votes ) the Gandhis would have gracefully resigned the leadership of the party, and let a new leadership, with new ideas, take over. But no, like leeches or Dracula the Gandhi family must cling on to leadership of Congress till its entire blood is sucked away.
Sonia, like a good mother, dreams of Rahul becoming Prime Minister one day. But not only does this 'Pappu' have nothing in his head, he regularly insulted senior Congress leaders e.g. Hemant Biswas Sarma of Assam ( who later crossed over to BJP ) by playing with his dog when Sarma met him. The mother and son duo used to behave like Emperors, and were very arrogant even with senior Congress leaders, who were often denied appointment for long periods.
Hitler clung to office in Germany till the bitter end, as did Mussolini in Italy, the Bourbons in France, the Romanovs in Russia, Chiang Kai Shek in China, Batista in Cuba, Gen Thieu in South Vietnam, etc. The Gandhis seem bent on following on their inglorious footsteps, come what may.
If the Congress Party has any desire or chance for a revival it must in some way oust this tinpot mother-son duo and bring in a new leadership of persons having fresh ideas for dealing with the huge problems facing the nation. Otherwise the party has no hope.
