The hijacking of Yoga ( justice Katju)

Today, 21st June, is International Yoga Day. I regard it as a gimmick and drama.
When 50% of Indian children are malnourished ( see Global Hunger Index ), 50% of our women are anaemic, and there is record unemployment, skyrocketing prices of foodstuffs, fuel, gas cylinders, etc, farmers distress ( almost 400,000 Indian farmers have committed suicide in the past 25 years ), and almost total lack of proper healthcare for the masses, telling people to do yoga is as vulgar as Queen Marie Antoinette telling people who had no bread to eat cake.
What people in India want is not yoga but food, jobs, shelter, proper healthcare, good education, and other necessities. It is a cruel ruse and diversionary trick to tell a hungry or unemployed man/ woman to do yoga.
It is said that yoga gives good health and a peaceful mind. But will it give this to a man/woman who is poor, hungry, and unemployed ? Will it give it to our malnourished masses and anaemic women ?
Many people ask me whether I am also against Independence Day, Republic Day, Diwali, Holi, Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, Children’s Day, etc ? Why only against Yoga Day ?
I have nothing against Yoga, or against the others mentioned above. What I am against is hijacking them for a political agenda.
The Roman Emperors, used to say ” If you cannot give the people bread, give them circuses ”.
Today’s Indian Emperors ( loyally assisted by our mostly servile, sold out, shameless and sycophantic 'godi' media ), say “ If you cannot solve the massive problems of poverty, unemployment, hunger, price rise, healthcare, farmers distress, etc, give the Indian people diversionary stunts and gimmicks like 'Vikas', Yoga Day, Ram Mandir, Swatchata Abhiyan, CAA, Article 370 revocation, etc ”.
