What Is SAI Scheme? 

SAI stands for Sports Authority of India. It was started in May 2015. SAI basically deals with the promotion of different sports in different age groups. SAI is aimed at scouting and nurturing talented sportspersons in various age groups for achieving excellence at the National/International level.

SAI regionally is located in different places like Bengaluru, Kolkata, Gandhinagar, Mumbai Bhopal, Sonipat, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Guwahati and Imphal.

The objective of the SAI Scheme

Under this scheme, the schools are to have good sports infrastructure and good performance by the students. This scheme highlights the theme of studying and playing at the same school. This came under the main scheme which is the National Sports Talent Contest (NSTC) launched in 1985 in which regular schools were adopted, a few distinct sub-schemes were launched to further reach out to sports talent in India, even those participating in indigenous sports and games.

NSTC (sub-scheme) includes 

1-Regular Schools

2-Indigenous Games & Martial Arts (IGMA)

3-Akharas

WHO CAN APPLY TO SAI

To make sure that you've secured your place one must have good physical fitness and good experience of the chosen sport.

Senior: They must be a good performer in the selected sport at the district and state levels.

For junior: Good physical skill and knowledge about the chosen sport.

HOW TO APPLY

You can apply to a scheme in a simple three-step process

Step 1 - Register on the site (You can register for your ward)

Step 2 - Make a profile. This is a very critical step. Every year several people apply to the SAI scheme. In order to secure your position, you must fill all the necessary details with a clarity especially if you're a sports person.

Step 3 - Apply for a scheme. Once you have made your profile you can apply to any qualified scheme of SAI.
