The Death of Osama bin Laden.

Osama bin Laden
was killed in Abbottabad, Pakistan in a raid called “Operation Geronimo” led by US Navy SEALs on 2nd May 2011. He was living isolated for at least 5 years in Abbottabad, hidden behind the high walls less than 2KM from a renowned military academy of Pakistan.

On the Killing of bin Laden, the Americans had taken its revenge on the trauma of 9/11. The Americans had taken their revenge, but the question remained unanswered as how a privileged, soft-spoken young man transform himself into a leader and waging war on America? How and why the warning signs about Laden’s growing influence and threat were ignored? Secondly and most important is even after his killing his ideology is still been accepted and followed by the group Al-Qaeda.

Reason: There was long-drawn battle in Afghanistan with Russian, bin laden led his followers into battle against the Russians. From the battle emerged Al-Qaeda, a group dedicated to spreading jihad, holy war, around the world. After this, the invasion of US troops in Saudi Arab during the 1990s and his expulsion from Sudan to Afghanistan in 1996 turned bin Laden’s latent anti-Americanism into a passionate hatred against US. Slowly and steadily, it gave rise to planning for the 9/11 attacks.

It’s important to understand how someone like bin Laden thought, how he saw the world, and events that mattered to him. It’s not comfortable, but it is important. If we don’t want another event like 9/11 to happen, we have to know why people are attracted to ideologies like bin Laden’s, and the best way to do that, is to be informed about these horrible, awful people around which so much disaster and darkness circulates.

Finally, perhaps, scholar Colin P. Clarke places Al-Qaeda’s fate in the clearest form: “Killing bin Laden was an important milestone. But it was more symbolic than impactful, more tactical than strategic. The US might be leaving Afghanistan, but AQ remains, long after bin Laden Gone.”
