The role of social movement in making people aware of bullying

As time passes by, you grow up and people around will bully you just because of your appearance. It is mostly done because you are weird..different in look, the clothes you wear, language you speak and the way you are.

I define bullying as only done to show that the person who is bullying you is very charming or to gain popularity..

It's OKAY to be weird, but  NOT OKAY to be bullied.

Mostly, the targets are lesbian, gay, transgender, South Asian, Muslim, Sikh, Micronesian, and Limited Englsih proficient youth.

In Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community, this problem is often complicated by cultural, linguistic and religious barriers that can keep youth getting the help they need.

The Partnership of Sikh coalition and the coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainment is launching a public awareness campaign "act to change" to address bullying. (including AAPI community).

This "act to change" aims to empower students, families, and educators with knowledge and tools to prevent and end bullying in their communities. In addition to raising awareness, the campaign encourages youth to share their stories, engage in community dialogues and take action against bullying.

Take a pledge to join this campaign ( ActToChange.org) and take a stand against it.

As few cannot speak English fluently,

Resources are available in Chinese, Hindi, Korean, Punjabi, Urdu, Vietnamese.

Bullying doesn't build character it breaks confidence

Take a pledge to stop it:

Help stop bullying by not bullying others.

Report bullying that you see or experience to your school and trusted adults.

Help someone you see who is being bullied.

Spread the word about bullying awareness.

Share information and resources about bullying prevention and response.

Be proud of who you are and celebrate our differences.

In one survey,  66% of people who admitted to bullying others were male. The study suggests that this could be largely due to the differences in which boys and girls are raised. Girls are encouraged to speak up about what is bothering them, while boys are told it is a sign of weakness to display emotions.

Consequences:

● suicide

● decreased academic performance

● decrease in psychological and physical health.

Conclusion:

It is necessary to stop bullying in and around your community, state or country. As it depresses the youth to come up with excellence.

Though, parents should teach their children at a young age what bullying is, its consequences and how to stop it. This will lead to equality in the country.
